Manasamitra bring their brand-new multi-media work to Kings Place, a musical interpretation of a tea ceremony. The Sound of Tea mixes new live music with lighting, soundscapes and participatory rituals to tell the story of tea. Specially-designed interactive tea tables will create an interactive loop between the audience and performers.
Creator Supriya Nagarajan (Carnatic voice) uses her experience of synesthesia to explore the interplay between sound, sight, smell, taste, and touch. With Duncan Chapman (electronics) James Cave (cello) Karin de Fleyt (flutes) Arian Sadr (percussion) Rohith Sakthy (voice) Fenfen Huang (performance) & Beverly Wainwright (tea expert)
The Sound of Tea’ is produced as part of Sound and Music’s New Voices 2018 Artist Development Programme. New Voices is supported by Arts Council England; PRS Foundation; RVW Trust; Cockayne; London Community Foundation; and Garrick Charitable Trust.
